On Wednesday 5 March, to coincide with Ash Wednesday, the College will be hosting its annual Rice Bowl Day to launch Project Compassion.
Students can order/purchase a bowl of rice for $2, with all proceeds benefiting Project Compassion. Condiments and sauces will be available. To help us estimate the number of bowls needed, students are encouraged to place their orders in advance via a link that will be shared. We encourage all students planning to participate in Rice Bowl Day to order ahead.
Our Lenten charity is Project Compassion, which raises awareness and funds for Caritas Australia. On Rice Bowl Day, the canteen will serve only rice during recess and lunch to give us a glimpse into the reality faced by many around the world who struggle with food insecurity. This simple yet powerful act helps our community raise much-needed funds for Project Compassion, while also deepening our understanding of the vital work Caritas Australia does to support families in need globally.
We encourage you to visit the Caritas Australia/Project Compassion website to learn about the projects being undertaken by Caritas and hear the stories of people around the world who have experienced transformation because support from communities like ours.
Thank you for your support with this great initiative.
