WILLIAM O'CALLAGHAN
Science Teacher, MacKillop House

Science teacher Mr O’Callaghan has been a member of the Corpus teaching staff since 2003. As well as being an active member of Chisholm house, Mr O’Callaghan is the current coordinator of the Excelsis Club, which aims to promote and reward academic excellence in the Senior School. Mr O’Callaghan decided to be a teacher after some soul searching. Since then, his commitment to education has benefited the lives of countless students, especially those who have been able to reach their desired ATAR through achieving excellent scores in ATAR Physics. He greatly admires renowned Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879), who once said ‘I have looked into most philosophical systems and I have seen that none will work without God.’

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT CORPUS?

I love everything about working at Corpus. I feel like I’m part of a caring, nurturing team. The students are wonderful and their curiosity and eagerness to learn invigorates me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE COLLEGE EVENT? WHY?

Mass at the end and beginning of each year. It just seems like the right way to start and finish, sharing the Eucharist with colleagues and friends.
