Middle School
The Middle School at Corpus Christi College has certainly accepted the above challenge. Our vision and philosophy for the future has captured the particular needs of our early adolescents. Combined with our laptop programme, we have maximised our students’ learning by allowing them the capacity to collaborate, share experiences, work across disciplines and take control of their learning.
The educational philosophy at Corpus Christi College recognises the importance of the development of knowledge and skills. It is a philosophy that encourages students to use their gifts and talents in order to become independent and creative thinkers, who have a sense of purpose and desire to make the world a better place, espousing the principles of educating the whole person for a life of active and responsible citizenship. Using an inquiry based approach with an expectation that young people become knowledgeable and caring, who understand their responsibilities as stewards of the earth and who want to help create a better and more peaceful world, through an understanding of different cultures and respect for individuals, regardless of differences. At Corpus Christi College we encourage students to become active, lifelong learners. This is no more evident than the extraordinary work that has been done with the Personal Project in Year 9.
We are committed to educational principles in Years 7 to 9 which are based on good educational research in how students learn in the middle years (e.g Bloom’s Taxonomy, brain-based learning, criteria referenced assessment, collaborative, inquiry and student centred learning).
