Term 4
Welcome to Week 8
Our Story – 40th Anniversary
We were thrilled on Saturday 16 November to welcome back many past staff and students from both the Yidarra Catholic Primary School and Corpus Christi College communities to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
Our combined story is a unique one. Set across two campuses and connected to the St Thomas More Parish, from very humble beginnings in the mid 1980s, the schools grew into thriving educational communities thanks to the dedication, ingenuity and innovation of many people across the ensuing decades.
As we know, stories are for telling, for hearing, they connect us, give us opportunity to reflect, they bring us joy and they inspire us to build the next chapter. The 40th anniversary celebration allowed us to reminisce and share these stories and explore the exciting future direction of our recently amalgamated K-12 College.
We had the opportunity to relive the histories of Yidarra and Corpus Christi through a ‘this is your life’ segment chaired by College staff member and alumnus Mr Damian Chandler. We also had the opportunity to hear from former leaders of the two schools in an excellent video presentation created by another alumnus and previous staff member Mr Cam Allen.
During the evening, we were excited to announce that the event marked the launch of a new era for our Alumni. We aim to strengthen our connections and expand our database, paving the way for future celebrations and engagement through the relaunch of an Alumni magazine, fostering connections and legacy.
As the Corpus Christi, we are ‘one body, one community in Christ’, made up of many different parts. In celebrating our 40th anniversary we recognise the many people that have each contributed in their own way to build our remarkable culture and create a very special legacy that is uniquely ours. In ‘remembering the past with gratitude, living in the present with enthusiasm, and looking forward to the future with confidence’ (Pope John Paul II), we acknowledge our current amazing community who continue to positively shape our story.
We thank the many past staff and students who were able to attend the evening. I would also like to acknowledge College staff for their excellent support in ensuring the success of the event.
Continuing our Story
In continuing our Corpus story, we were pleased to welcome our 2025 Year 7 cohort to the College on Tuesday last week for their Orientation Day. The intent of the day was to connect our incoming students to the College before they formally commence next year, and to promote a sense of belonging amongst the students.
Under the guidance of the House Community Coordinators, College staff and our student leaders, the group was involved in range of fun and exciting activities designed to establish social networks and build excitement ahead of their first year in the Senior School in 2025. Our Vision for Community at the College is to grow ‘belonging’ to ‘empower’ and to ‘care’. These core drivers underpinned the planning for the day, resulting in a very enjoyable experience for all concerned.
The day culminated with an outstanding student dance performance for parents and caregivers that the students had created over the course of the day. We enjoyed the opportunity to then spend time with parents and caregivers the following evening in the Caroline Payne Theatre to set the scene for the start of 2025.
We are grateful to the many staff involved in the design and preparation of the day, in particular to our 2025 Head of Year 7 Mrs Erin Thomasz who will support the students on their Corpus journey next year.
We are also very much looking forward to our 2025 Kindergarten students and their parents and caregivers attending the College for their Orientation Morning this Thursday at the Junior School Campus. The Junior School team has a wonderful morning planned for those students and families attending.
Celebrating Community
Our Corpus legacy has been built on the positive contribution of many. This philosophy was very much in evidence on Friday last week through the outstanding efforts of our Junior School Classroom Community Connectors and other parent helpers in joining staff to provide what was an incredible Colour Run event for the students.
This very joy filled occasion for our school epitomised the Corpus Christi – one body, many parts – that is the combined efforts of many to create something very special. We acknowledge our students for the positive way that they involved themselves in the day. It was fantastic to see everyone having so much fun together and celebrating the connection they have to our community.
I would like to close by extending my gratitude to all who contributed to our Annual Community Meeting last Tuesday. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on and celebrate our successes over the past year. During the meeting, we also announced the 2025 fee schedule, which will be available online by the end of the year. Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to another successful year together.
Best wishes and every blessing,
Jeff Allen
Principal

As we prepare to enter the season of Advent, we’re called to reflect on how we can live out our College values of courage, commitment, and compassion. This year’s Advent Appeal invites our College community to support Saint Vincent de Paul in their efforts to bring joy and relief to those in need. From Weeks 5 to 8, we’ll be collecting donations in each Classroom in the Junior School, and each Homeroom in the Senior School. You can contribute festive non-perishable food items or a small Christmas gift under $20, wrapped and labelled with age and gender.
Let’s show courage by stepping up to help, commitment by participating wholeheartedly, and compassion by making a difference in the lives of others this Christmas.
Thank you in advance for your generous contributions. The plan is to present our College’s donation to representatives from the Bateman Chapter of Saint Vincent de Paul at the whole school assembly in Week 8.

The Great Book Swap – Supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation
This Friday morning, we’re excited to host The Great Book Swap in the undercover area before school. This event is a wonderful way for our school community to share a love of reading while raising funds to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which works to provide books and literacy programs to remote Indigenous communities.
As we celebrate the importance of storytelling, we’re reminded of the words from Australian Indigenous author Bronwyn Bancroft’s Why I Love Australia: "My country is special. It holds all of my stories."
Thank you to everyone who has donated pre-loved books. We invite students to contribute a gold coin donation to support this fantastic cause. Together, let’s celebrate the power of stories and make a meaningful difference!
Warm regards

Edie Jackson
We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Edie Jackson, a Year 11 student who has excelled in life saving competitions this year.
After a highly successful States campaign, where she earned three bronze, three silver, and one gold medal, Edie was invited to trial for the WA Royal Life Saving State Team. Her dedication and hard work during weekly training and trial camps paid off, and she was named in the squad.
On 5th November 2024, Edie was selected for the travelling team after comprehensive trials, including SERC and CPR training, racing, and pool work. She will compete in the Nationals in Sydney this January and is preparing for the Commonwealth Championships in Wales in July and the World Championships in Morocco in 2025.
Congratulations, Edie! Your achievements are truly inspiring, and we look forward to cheering you on in your future competitions.
Adele
We are thrilled to share an outstanding achievement by one of our exceptional students, Adele, who has made waves in the world of diving. Adele was recently awarded her first perpetual award at Diving WA, earning the prestigious title of 2024 National Skills Diver of the Year.
This accolade is a testament to Adele's dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent. It is particularly noteworthy as this is the first year she has qualified for this esteemed trophy. Her stellar results throughout the year played a significant role in securing this achievement, showcasing her consistent excellence and commitment to her sport.
Adele’s journey to this award is an inspiring story of perseverance and passion. Her success not only reflects her individual efforts but also embodies the spirit of excellence that we cherish at our school. We are incredibly proud of Adele and look forward to seeing her continue to excel in her diving pursuits.
Congratulations, Adele, on this well-deserved recognition! Your achievements are an inspiration to us all.
Aiden Evans
We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Aiden Evans, a Year 9 student, who represented the NSA Select (National Sports Academy) U15s Bantam Ice Hockey team.
Aiden and his team clinched the gold medal at the prestigious OneHockey International tournament held in Dunedin, New Zealand in early November 2024. Competing against teams from around the globe, Aiden's team demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork.
What makes this victory even more remarkable is that the team comprised players from five different states (WA, NSW, QLD, SA, and VIC). Despite meeting and arriving in Dunedin for the first time just 24 hours before the competition, the team quickly forged a strong bond and worked seamlessly together.
Aiden's exceptional performance did not go unnoticed. He was chosen by his coach as the MVP for the grand final game, a testament to his dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.
Congratulations, Aiden, on this incredible achievement. We are immensely proud of you and look forward to celebrating more of your accomplishments in the future.

Our students have embraced the journey, participating in Adventurous Journey camps, learning new skills, engaging in physical recreation, and dedicating themselves to community service. Their achievements reflect not just the completion of tasks, but a journey of self-discovery and growth.
Congratulations to all our Bronze Award recipients. Your hard work and determination have paid off, and we look forward to your continued success!
