Year 8 STEM
The Year 8s recently worked on creating a stop-motion animation as part of the Year 8 STEM Program.
Students were asked to select a ‘big question,’ investigate the problem, design and then create a presentation using the STEM thinking process. The big questions were:
Should all plastics be banned?
Does our food travel too far?
What makes apps/videos/games addictive or go viral?
Who is the GOAT? (Greatest Of All Time)?
Students worked within small groups and used a variety of materials to create their animations – clay, Lego, lollies, paper etc. The final products were of an incredibly high standard.
The top animations (as voted on by STEM teachers) were acknowledged in the Theatre on Friday 6 November. Congratulations to the following groups:
=3rd – Abby Cawthorn, Noel Phoea, Prunelle Rodari
=3rd – Reece Nocciolino, Hannah Oversby, Jordan Ritchie
2nd – Charlotte Dalley, Jordan Felipe, Sophia Pinelli
1st – Joshua Daff, Ameliah Johnson, Nicholas O’Keefe, Nathan Rodrigues
