Academy Conference for Gifted and Talented students
On the 8th of May, myself and eleven other Year 10 and 11 Gifted and Talented students were invited to attend an insightful conference at St Hilda's Anglican Girls' School run by Julie Arliss, a lecturer at Oxford and Kings College in London, who opened up the endless possibilities of thinking outside the box. She gave lectures from topics such as, "What makes a good life" and "The Theory of Time", followed finally by an open debate discussing whether love is a commodity to be traded. She addressed how to think philosophically and use our imagination and logic to answer questions that aren't always simple. We learnt several critical thinking skills needed to excel in life after high school, and had lots of fun in the process!
Students who attended the conference included: Alex Di Rosso, Corran O’Brien, Rohan Bay, Tamara Rodrigues, Sammy Taylor, Sarah Ho, Alea Go, Tiana Inman, Annabel Biscotto, Brett Nigli, Holly Van der Linden, Mia Chan.
