Student Success – Rostrum Voice of Youth public speaking

On Saturday 20th May, Gianni Petta (Year 8), Mosaia McDonald (Year 9), competed in the Rostrum Voice of Youth public speaking semi -final delivering a prepared and an impromptu speech. I am delighted to announce that Gianni, Mosaia have progressed through to the State final which will take place on 24th June.
I would also like to acknowledge Olivia Fuderer (Year 12) for her dedication to public speaking. After her exams she will return to coach her Year 7 students after school. She is a true role model and a dedicated student.

Academic Excellence Extension Program (AEEP)

Each year, members of the Academic Excellence Program (AEP) are given the opportunity to take part in the Academic Excellence Extension Program (AEEP). This year we already have 50 students who have registered to take part in the program.
The purpose of the program is to:
- Empower students to strive for excellence and achieve at their true potential.
- Maximise the potential of all students, converting gifts into talents.
- Provide students with a positive environment as a result of being involved in unique opportunities whereby they can pursue their interests.
- Offer students the opportunity to work with like-minded students.
- Train gifted and talented students to ensure correct attitudes and approaches to learning.
- Maintain academically able students, motivated.
- Cater for academically able students who are often self-directed learners.
- Ensure selected students excel at the attributes identified in the Corpus Christi College Learner Profile.
- Provide students with the opportunity to apply 21st Century skills including working collaboratively and communicating with others, nurturing student creativity and problem solving skills.

Exhibition evening: 31st August 2017 (Celebrating Excellence Evening). Student projects will be exhibited and showcased to parents and friends later in the year.
Murdoch mentors: Year 9 and 10 students have been given the option to have a Murdoch University Student Ambassador mentor them.

Australian History Competition

On the 24th May (during Humanities Lessons,) 24 Year 8 and 48 Year 10 students participated in the Australian History Competition.
The Competition is prepared by the History Teachers’ Association of Australia and run in conjunction with The Giant Classroom.
The primary goal of the competition is to provide an interesting and challenging experience for students. Students knowledge, skills and understandings of history are assessed by the competition.
Fare Evasion
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Recently, Swan Transit undertook an audit to determine the extent of the number of passengers deliberately avoiding pay fares on their services. The data collected identified afternoon school services from the College, as a higher than normal incident rate of fare evasion.
They have requested that we remind all students of the requirement to have a valid ticket for travel at all times or be tagged onto a service if using a SmartRider Card. Anyone found not to have a valid ticket is subject to being issued a $100 infringement.
