Corpus hitting the right notes!

The Fremantle Eisteddfod Performing Arts Festival commenced last week kicking off with the Choir Sections in the historic Fremantle Town Hall.  The Eisteddfod is a wonderful celebration of music making in Western Australia with close to 1080 performances over ten days from Thursday May 11 to Sunday May 21. 

Currently undergoing an external facelift, the old iconic building resonated with young vibrant voices, each group from a handful of schools singing their hearts out, impressing the supporting parents, staff and official adjudicators.

Corpus performed with absolute class, winning a couple of early sections not only impressing the officiators with beautiful melodic harmonies but with trademark Corpus 'Personality'.  Over the Mothers' Day weekend, our vocal soloists excelled with every individual performance placing highly! Music students as Corpus rehearse extensively throughout the week (Before and after school) and unlike many schools, 'performance' experience is something students are exposed to on many occasions at the College.  Whether it be local festivals, College events, annual showcases or music evenings, our music students know how to perform in front of audiences. This showed in abundance last week and and the musicians have set the bar very high for our Instrumental and ensemble groups, including our famous Celtic Band and instrumental soloists!

The Eisteddfod has an altruistic philosophy “to provide aspiring musicians with an environment to showcase their talent”.
