Inter-House Cross Country 2017
What a way to finish off Term One!
War Paint, House Tutu's, Pom Poms, Clown Shoes, Super hero capes... all part of the spirit and enthusiasm of our second official House Cup Sporting event for 2017.
Competitors took to the 3km undulating course at Piney Lakes, the venue for this annual event for over 25 years at the College. (Although the landscape has certainly changed over that time!)
The Year 12 boys were the first Year group to tackle the course, leading the way with a very fast pace and a 'sea of House colour' dispersing itself across the grassy expanse. Mrs Lesley McAuliffe and Mr Rino Sinagra, both on push bikes, guided each Year group around the winding course to the finishing straight, spurred on by mobs of cheering and screaming staff and students!
The competitive spirit was at an all-time high and the sportsmanship shown over the entire course was admirable, consistently encouraged by High Vis-Stylised staff members at every turn.
This event, like previous years, runs like a well-oiled machine. From course mapping and setup, and staff duty allocation to electronic timing and refreshments for our runners, our Sports staff continue to raise the bar each year.
Congratulations to all competitors (including the staff who ran the course). Your team spirit shone brighter than the sunny day we were lucky enough to enjoy for this popular event in the College Calendar.
Results were presented at a whole school assembly at the conclusion of the day, a perfect way to finish off the term. Now the entire College community have two weeks to recover from any aches and pains, but more importantly, time to reset the body and mind for a busy yet exciting Term Two.
Results and more action shots from today's event will be posted soon. Watch this space!
